On March 21, 2025, the inaugural meeting of the Alliance of Key Laboratories in the Field of Computer and Artificial Intelligence took place in Nanjing. Lyu Jian, Director of the State Key Laboratory for Novel Software Technology at Nanjing University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhang Qiao, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and Zhou Zhihua, Vice President of NJU, attended and delivered speeches.
Zhou Zhihua stated that NJU will support the Alliance in fully leveraging its disciplinary advantages in the field of computer and artificial intelligence, collaborating with all member units, jointly undertake breakthroughs in fundamental theories and critical core technologies, promote the deep integration of technological and industrial innovation, continuously shape new development momentum and advantages, and facilitate a new leap in new quality productivity in Jiangsu.
Zhang Qiao introduced the construction considerations of the provincial laboratory alliance and the "1+N" organizational structure, affirming the important significance of the establishment of the Alliance of Key Laboratories in the Field of Computer and Artificial Intelligence. He expressed hope that members of the Alliance would strengthen resource sharing, build the highlands and peaks of computing and artificial intelligence, promote interdisciplinary integration and application empowerment in related fields, and advance the deep integration of technological and industrial innovation in education, science, and talent, contributing more significantly to the creation of a globally influential industrial technology innovation center and the advancement of a high-level technologically strong province.
Lyu Jian pointed out that the key force driving social development is the "new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation," powered by the new generation of information technology. This is precisely the important area of focus for the Alliance of Key Laboratories in the Field of Computer and Artificial Intelligence. He hopes that members will unite, exchange, share, and cooperate to enhance both "hard power" and "soft power."
During the meeting, leaders from the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Nanjing University, and the alliance unveiled the plaque for the Alliance of Key Laboratories in the Field of Computer and Artificial Intelligence. Before the inaugural meeting, the board of directors of the Alliance held its first plenary meeting, approving the "Charter of the Alliance of Key Laboratories in the Field of Computer and Artificial Intelligence."
More than 100 representatives from national key laboratories, Jiangsu provincial laboratories, Jiangsu provincial key laboratories, and Ministry of Education key laboratories from universities, research institutes, and leading industry enterprises attended the meeting. The Alliance, led by the State Key Laboratory for Novel Software Technology at Nanjing University, involves 40 national key laboratories, Jiangsu provincial laboratories, Jiangsu provincial key laboratories, and Ministry of Education key laboratories in related fields. It aims to establish an open, collaborative, and shared platform, gathering the strengths of key laboratories in computing, artificial intelligence, interdisciplinary, and application fields, focusing on core technology breakthroughs to promote positive interaction and high-quality development of technological and industrial innovation in the province, oriented towards serving major national needs.
