Tan Tieniu meets with delegation from Hong Kong Association for the Promotion of Industry-University-Research Cooperation

On March 26, Hong Weimin, Vice President of the Hong Kong Association for the Promotion of Industry- University-Research Cooperation, led a delegation to visit Nanjing University. Tan Tieniu, Chair of NJU CPC Council and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, met with the guests on Xianlin campus. Both parties discussed further promoting industry-university-research collaboration between Jiangsu and Hong Kong, establishing a long-term communication mechanism, and enhancing exchange and cooperation.

Tan Tieniu welcomed Hong Weimin and his delegation, recalling his work experience in Hong Kong and expressing the deep friendships he had formed with various sectors there. He noted that Hong Kong has many highly internationalized prestigious universities with significant advantages in academic research and talent cultivation. The Association can play an important role in promoting the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and industry-research collaboration. He introduced NJU's achievements over its 123-year history and its cooperation with Hong Kong. He hoped to further expand the areas of cooperation, promote the transformation of research achievements, and accelerate the construction of a world-class "First Nanjing University" with Chinese characteristics, thereby continuously enhancing NJU's comprehensive strength and international influence, and contributing more to the nation's education and technology sectors.

Hong Weimin expressed gratitude for NJU's and stated the hope to further advance exchanges and cooperation, conduct relevant educational training, match industry-university-research resources, support mainland talent in developing in Hong Kong and overseas, and jointly promote the transformation of advantageous scientific and technological achievements and talent cultivation between Jiangsu and Hong Kong.

Ding Aijun, Assistant President of NJU, accompanied the meeting and attended the exchange seminar. Both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as international innovation and entrepreneurship, industrial technology research, the development of the National University Science Park, youth scientific and technological innovation development in Jiangsu and Hong Kong, and talent cultivation in the digital economy and technology transfer.

During the visit, Hong Weimin and his delegation also toured the University History Museum and the National University Science Park to gain a deeper understanding of NJU's development, scientific research, and achievement transformation.

Participants in the event included Guan Junhua, Member of the Nanjing CPPCC and Executive President of the Greater Bay Area Education Development Association, Huang Deyu, Head of the Greater Bay Area's first Technology Leadership Talent Innovation Center; Luo Runhua, Founding Secretary-General of the Qianhai Think Tank; and heads of NJU's related departments and institutions.
